THE TOP TEN REASONS WE ARE THANKFUL FOR OUR DONORS
As we reflect on this season of gratitude, we want to acknowledge the people who make the work of our partners possible: you, our donors. Your support strengthens Lacor Hospital and St. Jude Children’s Home in ways that matter every day.
Here are the top ten reasons we are thankful for you.
10. You help keep Lacor Hospital open and caring for everyone.
Because of your support, Lacor continues its mission to treat the greatest number of people with the best possible care at the lowest possible cost. Your generosity ensures that families across northern Uganda receive high-quality care regardless of their ability to pay.
9. You protect mothers and newborns with lifesaving care.
Lacor champions healthcare for women and children, and your donations strengthen this work. You help ensure skilled deliveries, emergency obstetric care, and neonatal support. Pregnant women and children under five receive free treatment, and thousands of mothers and infants each year receive the care they need because of your support.
8. You provide school lunch every day at St. Jude Primary School.
For many students, this meal is the most consistent source of nutrition in their day. Attendance is higher than ever because children know they will receive lunch. They walk less during the school day, miss fewer classes, and are more attentive in the classroom. Donor support strengthens learning by making it possible for every child to stay in school and stay focused.
7. You support long-term care for children with disabilities.
You help provide therapy, medical support, nutritional care, education, and a stable environment for children who require long-term, specialized support at St. Jude Children’s Home. Your giving ensures that children with disabilities receive consistent care and protection, and that their individual needs are met every day.
6. You help strengthen the foundation that keeps Lacor Hospital running.
Your unrestricted support to Lacor Hospital is essential, and you understand why it matters. Because of this, Lacor can invest in reliable infrastructure, including oxygen supplies and surgical equipment, as well as transportation and essential utilities. These unseen systems often make the difference between an overwhelmed Hospital and a functioning one.
5. You provide crisis care and family reunification support for vulnerable children.
You help children in crisis receive immediate safety, stability, and daily care by supporting the mothers who look after them at St. Jude Children’s Home. These mothers provide care and love for each child until they can return to their own families when it is appropriate and safe to do so.
4. You helped protect HIV treatment when it was at risk.
When USAID’s funding lapse threatened access to lifesaving HIV medications, you stepped in. Your support allows staff at Lacor Hospital to continue working and keeps the HIV clinic open. Because of you, patients continue to receive uninterrupted treatment even after USAID funding ended.
3. You support high-quality care for patients with sickle cell disease.
Now that Lacor has been named a Center of Excellence in Sickle Cell Disease, more than 1,000 patients come to the Hospital for treatment. Your support helps ensure they receive effective care and essential medications, even though many families cannot afford the full cost on their own.
2. You support secondary school, university, and technical training for graduates of St. Jude Primary School.
Your generosity covers school fees for students to continue their education. You help young people gain the knowledge and practical skills they need to build stable futures and become active contributors to their communities.
